Formerly a hut used during World War 2 to house internees and later by the Forest Commission as a camp hut, this building will be re-purposed into a visitors information center and a space where exhibitions such as History Week exhibitions, art exhibitions and exhibitions such as the Walk Through the Wars can be displayed. Wandong/Heathcote Junction has no place that visitors can access information about the area or where exhibitions can remain on display for a period of time. The re-location and restoration of this building will also mean an important heritage feature will be retained and maintained.
The local community will have a space in which to view and display exhibitions, it will bring more visitors to the area which will assist local business and also make available a very important heritage building to the public, which has been in private hands and is in danger of becoming unusable if not repaired.

This is a great opportunity to preserve the history of Wandong
Yes please - great initiative. Thanks to the Wandong History Group!
Would suit well with what our community has been doing on our main street
Great idea to use this old historical building. It would be great if the walls could talk 😉
Fantastic idea.. great way to keep the heritage in the area.
Great project for all locals and visitors. Restoration of this hut will be a huge boost for Wandong and surrounds. Can't wait to see it come to fruition. Our history is every bit as important as our future!
Good project by the Wandong History Group, and well worth community support. I look forward seeing the restored hut in the memorial park for everybody to admire, and to ponder all of those who may of been connected to the hut in our past history.
This will provide a great exhibition space in a location for all to see when visiting our beautiful memorial park. The hut will enable the History Group to tell the stories of our past and provide new residents with a sense of place and history. The hut will be restored to ensure its longevity into the future so get behind this project and give it your vote, tell all your friends to support the Wandong community.
The Wandong History Group would like to thank the current owners of the hut for allowing us to take this opportunity to relocate and restore this historic building, and provide a much needed resource for the community. Please get everyone you know who is eligible to vote for our project, and lets show what a great community we have here at Wandong Heathcote Junction. Go Wandong get voting!!!!!
This would be a very worthwhile project for the town thanks to the vision of the Wandong History Group, providing a connection to the past for both locals and visitors alike.
I have a mud map of camp layout that came out of this very hut in the 70s. It had it marked up as to what huts were for sale. Looks like it can end back there. Great project.
This will give Wandong more appeal..
Great initiative for our community
Preserve our heritage.
Good to keep for historical purpose.
