Violet Town Wet Lands Enhancement

Adjacent to the Violet Town Bush Nursing Centre is an area that has been developed as a wet lands with small lakes for plants, birds and animals. Around the water holes is a walking track. The nursing home and local residents including those that use the gym in the Nursing Home use the walking track.

The project will provide seating with shade along the track plus a Gazebo with a drinking water fountain. Those from the gym as well as anyone who cares to have a work out can use the exercise poles. Sealing the lakes will ensure water stability.

There are many local volunteers who take Nursing Home residents out in their wheel chairs and walking frames. These elderly residents require seating with shelter approximately every 200 meters. Fresh drinking water which would be water bottle and dog friendly would encourage more use. The area is frequented by locals and visitors so these enhancements should lead to greater use.
Water in the lakes all year will help develop the native flora and encourage birds and animals to make it their home as well as enhancing the area.
Exercise, socialisation and community spirit would all benefit.
