Initiate a program of four events per year.
The events would be promoted as VillageLifeFair with hubs of activity in the villages of Gordon and Mt Egerton and orientate visitors or participants along the VillageLifeTrail to enable interaction with creative people and their endeavours in their authentic places.
Events would be themed to focus on a key range of skills. The village Main Streets of Gordon and Mt Egerton would be hubs for the events with a repair and swap, workshop and display activities. Fair visitors would be encouraged to walk and drive to the workshops and places of creativity.
Our villages of Gordon and Mt Egerton are home to many extraordinarily creative people. Shoe making, hat making, ceramicists, sculptors, blacksmithing, Indigenous crafts, productive gardening, baking, knitting, spinning, dance to name a few. Our initiative is based on the following:
- Confirming recognition of the essence of what characterises and authentically connects the villages of Gordon and Mt Egerton.
- Enabling commercial opportunities in our Main Streets and our low key creative skills and initiate broader tourism strategies.
- Encouraging rediscovery of old skills along with sustainable practices including repair and swap.
- Facilitating community connection and health and wellbeing.
