This project proposes the construction of a viewing platform on the track across to the main surf beach. It will be constructed as an adjunct to the existing boardwalk linking to the main walking track between the township and beach. The design has been prepared to work with and complement the existing structure and minimises any impacts on the dune system. The proposal includes seating and the installation of interpretive signs to inform visitors to our beautiful beach of key aspects of the dune system, local coastal bird life and aquatic visitors.

The existing track takes visitors from the central parking areas of town across the dunes to the surf beach. From the top of the dunes there are wonderful vistas looking south towards Wilson's Promontory and north towards Waratah. There is limited capacity to stop and admire these views, particularly in the busy summer months. The viewing platform will provide a perfect vantage point and the interpretive signs an opportunity to learn about our delicate dune system, visiting bird and aquatic life. The platform will also provide a wonderful stopping point for those less mobile and unable to reach the beach.
