Local community members will build a greenhouse, two aquaponic systems, potting systems and a garden shed to enhance and expand our existing community garden.
Aquaponic systems will breed, nurture and release local fish. Leafy greens growing on the tanks will be harvested for cooking programs.
We will grow our own seedlings, plant, tend, harvest and cook the vegetables, herbs and fruit.
Our six chickens and compost already transform all organic waste, ably assisted by our resident miniature pig, Gigi, who also ploughs the soil.
We will share our knowledge through working bees, seasonal celebrations, workshops and visits from local schoolchildren
Residents of the local neighbourhood, students and staff from local schools and their families have already designed, built and worked together in our existing veggie and fruit garden on the open grounds of Coburg High School.
We have lots of ideas and energy for expanding our successful horticulture area.
Gaining funds to purchase materials for new activities will bring people together, build relationships, create a knowledge exchange.
Fish will be released to waterways by VictorianFisheriesAuthority
This enterprise sees people working alongside animals and plants to enjoy a sustainable local harvest.
Truffle trees for Gigi the pig remain a dream....for now.
