The Indigo Shire library will be used as an educational support centre for VCE students who live near Yackandandah. These students, who are usually bus-travellers, will be able to access the centre between 5:00pm and 6:30pm, Monday to Thursday. Qualified VCE teachers will supervise and provide academic assistance where needed, particularly in relation to Mathematics and English subjects. The students will have access to computers with relevant software, the internet, CAS calculators, relevant texts, printers and facilities to create a comfortable and inviting atmosphere for effective study. The program will be managed by an experienced local VCE coordinator.

Rural students are at a significant disadvantage in regard to accessing support services for VCE study. Opportunities for academic assistance are significantly lower outside of capital cities and major regional centres, particularly for bus-travellers. This program will:
- provide facilities and services that will help local VCE students to achieve their potential
- galvanise community support for local VCE students, regardless of the school that they attend
- provide opportunities for people in the community to re-engage in their education if they are not currently at school
If successful, the program could be extended to other rural towns.

This is so important to support our youth in their final years of schooling. A really great initiative.

If we are serious about "jobs and growth" we need to support our regional students way better to improve thier completion rates and successful entry into the tertiary course of their choice

A great way to support our youth, irrespective of the school they attend, as they complete their challenging VCE studies! Imagine if the model could be exanded to the whole of Indgo Shire? Now that would be fantastic!
