Turbo - Step up into High School

Turbo is a transition program for Year 6's as they move from primary to high school. The program aims to assist our teens to develop self-awareness and understand their own values. Equipping them with the ability to deal with change, understand respectful relationships and manage expectations/pressures so that they walk into the first day of year 7 feeling excited and ready for the next step in their education. Run by experienced and caring facilitators in term 4 as an after-school program Turbo offers a peer-based exploration of the worries that face young teens.

The local Albert Park community is seeing a rapid growth in their young population, with recently opened Albert Park College already past capacity and the opening of three new primary schools in the area. As the culture around today’s teens changes as quickly as it takes to send a Snapchat so must the way we ready them for High-school.
Turbo will creatively and supportively engage young teens with the questions/concerns they face as new high-schoolers. By equipping teens before they encounter these issues, we hope to assist them with the inevitable social and mental challenges faced in adolescence.
