Trees of the Surf Coast - & Surrounds

Celebrating our unique environment, for an engaged, innovative, inspired, and sustainable community. The project and community resource has a number of outcomes: Community Exhibition, Book, Large Scale Outdoor Digital Art Compilation Projection Exhibit Event, and an App. The information and material will be accessible by all; long and short term residents of the Surf Coast and Barwon Region, Surf Coast visitors, and further afield. The project will involve photographing and documenting vegetation around the Surf Coast predominantly, mainly on public land. Ecologist knowledge forms the basis of research that will be included. Indigenous species, biodiversity and habitat are the focus.

It is a Community Resource that facilitates greater engagement and appreciation of the diversity of our unique species, ecosystem relationships, connection to place, greater awareness of sustainability whilst celebrating the coast, encourages activity in the outdoors, which is important for community wellbeing.

Inspired by and addresses the current ongoing tree and sea-change occurring on the Surf Coast, of confirmed increase in human population in a short time, and the effect on biodiversity and habitat.

It addresses the desired need of people connecting in community, to place, and local identity.

It encourages environmental stewardship regarding preserving and enhancing the natural environment.
