A free, inspirational 12 month program of events including:
• Getting old bikes running like new
• Turning demolition timber into furniture
• Altering secondhand clothes to make them fit and funky
• Making kitchen and garden waste into compost
• Building/renovating with salvaged materials
• Up-cyclers Adventure Trail (with over 20 businesses that sell up-cycled/ secondhand goods)
• Billycarts from waste workshop
• Efficient combustion - cooking with wood scraps
• Appliances that last! Buy wisely, maintain and repair
Ending with a Grand, Treasure From Trash Show celebrating and showcasing the best up-cycling in our community.

• Wastes that would otherwise go to landfill would stay within the community, reducing methane emissions, saving money from tipping fees
• Community members with up-cycling skills would be employed and valued through the workshops
• Local shops and businesses that sell up-cycled and secondhand goods would be promoted and supported
• Community members would become more resourceful though new up-cycling skills
• Work with and benefit related community initiatives (i.e. Billycart Challenge, Boomerang Bags, Repair Café etc.)
• Events provide lots of opportunities for positive community interactions

Putting the emphasis on re-use in the 3 Rs! A great initiative that may by example prompt Mt Alexander Shire to at last look at undertaking such a program at the tip instead of junking the planet!

I wish every council redesigned their tips so that they were learning and recycling centres. The amount of beautiful timber and resources that are destroyed must be stopped. Great idea.
