TVW is a community managed charity which will:
. provide a safe place to live for 12 months.
. assist residents to develop their own Personal Plan that incorporates health and well-being management and training/skills education.
. help re-build residents' self-confidence and resilience
. involve local community via mentoring and fellowship
. assist residents to be involved in community activities - sports, volunteering, food swaps, microbusinesses
Residents will be 18+, local to Wallan and the greater Mitchell area, not currently drug or alcohol and express their desire to regain control of their life circumstances using the opportunities offered via TVW.
Homelessness is growing beyond the Government's capacity to cope. TVW believes that local community has the skills, strengths and the will to care for its own people and doesn't need to wait for "others" to do so.
Local action will develop a compassionate and connected community that cares for its most vulnerable residents. Such a community is a strong, safe community able to face future uncertainties together.
TVW will offer a small-scale, personal approach to residents as we believe that this will offer the best chances of long-term life changes for village residents.

Its been really inspiring to meet so many compassionate and active community members. When we started the idea of building this village we felt like the crazy dancer in the "First Follower" Youtube video. Now we are all dancing together.

Hi again - TVW committee has been busy in the market place asking for votes. We are all amazed and encouraged by the reaction of the people we speak too - so very supportive. Thanks for all the wonderful comments here. It is good to hear back from the people e speak to. As I said to one person, we wouldn't be accosting people in a public place unless we really believed in the project and its community impact. Thanks also for the votes - not long to go now until we get a result.

There should be NO HOMELESS PERSON in the most livable city in the world !!! Whatever the reasons are, there are solutions ! We have the land and resources to solve them ! We need a heart and will to do it !

AS CEO of Transition Village Wallan I find it is a great pleasure to work with our local community to bring this project into being. There is a great deal of compassion in our area, and it is great that TVW can provide a way for people to express this care for others less fortunate. Thank you to all who have, and will, vote for TVW. It is a service which will be available for all of the Shire of Mitchell, and act as a template for other communities wanting to follow this model.
