Together We Can

Community solutions are a demonstration of the willingness and passion that the people within Cardinia Shire have to work together to tackle the complex social problem of family violence. They harness the local knowledge of people in their local environments and build capacity and capability to create behavioural change. The Solutions developed at a Community Leadership summit. Unique to these solutions are the partnerships that formed between leaders from different community settings, sharing a common interest in a primary prevention activity. Funds will be used to facilitate the Summit and to broker resources directly to deliver the Solutions.

Family Violence is impacting around four families a day in Cardinia Shire - many with young children involved. Preventing family violence from occurring in the first instance will not only save children from being unnecessarily traumatised, it will build safer, more peaceful, resilient and prosperous communities. 'Together We Can' will engage and broker resources to community leaders to develop innovative Community Solutions and build a stronger culture that: develops healthier and respectful relationships, protects children from violence and abuse, advances equality for all, and supports families to access local services to heal when violence or abuse does occur.
