Humans are afraid of the unknown. With knowledge comes clarity and this results in confidence and a sense of security. I believe Iranians are the least known, perhaps the most misunderstood, community in Australia. Particularly, due to their negative portrayal by the media.
Through a photographic exhibition of their common characteristics, I would like to showcase the appearance and psyche of Iranian people. This helps wider Australian society to understand them creating a sense of belonging and connectedness for Iranian community.
Connection and understanding in a society leads to harmony and security - what the world lacks today.

I am hoping to dissolve barriers such as a lack of knowledge and widespread misunderstanding which prevent communities from interacting with each other.
In capturing these images and through reflecting the feelings of Iranian people, I aspire to make some contribution in creating a cohesive community where we move away from tolerance towards inclusion.
