This Project provides the community, through Torquay Theatre Troupe (TTT) as project partner, with modular mobile staging (podia and revolve) for improved audience experience. The community has no permanent arts or performance space and options in the Shire are limited demonstrating the need for such facilities.
Mobile stage units will provide community organisations (and TTT) greater flexibility for performances and presentations. The units will be stored and managed by the project partner TTT as per Pick-My-Project requirements. All registered community performance related groups may apply to TTT Committee of Management to use the equipment subject to TTT asset T&C’s.
Performance arts are recognised as a vital component of a healthy community and Surf Coast’s booming population encompasses a wide range of arts/performance interests.
It is anticipated that stage units may be used for exhibitions, dance performance productions, literary events such as book launches, formal presentations as well as TTT theatre productions.
Improved staging will enhance the community’s experiences of theatre performances and provide the community with a small-scale, flexible infrastructure. The assets will be mobile, requiring two people to erect, and re-usable with an expected life of >20 years. It will provide real and lasting value to the community.

This is a creative and low-cost way of providing Torquay and Surf Coast performing arts groups with a high-quality, adaptable facility in a short time, while not losing sight of the medium-term aim of a permanent space as part of an arts hub.

We as a community have been waiting years for an arts centre with a theatre!
This project is at least a first step towards that long anticipated dream!
Torquay is one of the fastest growing regions in the State - surely it must be considered
for such a vital element of a thriving community
