The Women’s Spirit Project will transform the lives of women from the Frankston community who are experiencing disadvantage.
Twenty five women will be supported to build their mental, emotional and physical resilience through a unique adventure-based, life skills program that will develop their goal setting, communication, problem solving, parenting and budgeting skills.
The program will run every Sunday for 14 weeks from February to May 2019. In addition to the above subjects, health and fitness classes and one-on-one mentoring will be provided. The program will culminate in a challenging three-day, four-night trek within the Mornington Peninsula involving family and friends.
The Frankston region has been identified as one of the most disadvantaged areas in Australia. By providing willing women with the opportunity to build their confidence, courage and resilience they can realise their own personal goals and by doing this, have a positive impact on everyone around them.
As has been shown through similar programs and research around the world, empowering women experiencing disadvantage, by supporting them to build and strengthen their life skills, health and wellbeing, relationships and community connections, changes their lives for the better and the lives of their family, friends and the whole community.
