We want as many people as possible in our diverse communities to be able to access and benefit from our free 'by-Community/for-community' newspaper; The Westsider.
To celebrate the imagination and creative vision of the West we are commissioning 12 local artists to stamp one of our 12 New York style news stands with their art-medium, with each stand then installed in a high-profile accessible location; e.g. libraries, shopping centres, community hubs and town halls, and kept filled with free copies of The Westsider to make sure no one misses out.

The Westsider is all about engaging, enhancing, encouraging and embracing our community.
The Newsstand project achieves this by:
- engaging diverse communities that may not currently have access to our free newspaper;
- enhancing our profile and the profile of positive community groups and people;
- encouraging local artists, writers, and the disadvantaged to contribute and grow their skills;
- embracing the 'power of community' where we are greater than the sum of our parts.
At The Westsider we have witnessed what accessibility and support for all in our community can achieve, and we don't want anyone to miss-out!

Well i want stories from the voiceless, not the lucky few who have jobs and stability in their lives. I have struggled with mental health all my life and now i am older i want my voice to be heard, but my topic is marginal, the mainstream, those middle class white girls and boys with all the say and money are not interested in my art or my writing or my friends or my community of marginalised struggling creatives. Mental health scares the lucky white middle class, they know nothing about the reality of living with mental health and they are scared it might be them one day. Forget everything you see and hear in movies and the media as mis-information.

Great, did you read the article in last month's edition written by a reader who had struggled with mental health issues? Maybe you could submit an article about your experiences?
