Women share their personal stories as an opportunity for empowerment and community building.
In a series of monthly events, this project connects library and school communities as well as empowering and appreciating women from all walks of life.
In a warm and friendly environment, with food, friendship and laughter, each woman's story is video recorded to create a living library of stories of people who have contributed to Melbourne's history and community at different times and in so many ways.
At the end of the year, the stories are collated as a documentary further enhanced by personal photos and mementos.
While many of us have hundreds of facebook friends, research shows that most people only have 2 to 4 real friends. In the digital age, we are losing the value of human interaction and connection.
This project will help our community rebuild our social capital by providing opportunities for people to connect through the power of story in a welcoming atmosphere. As women share their wealth of life experiences and ancestry, they feel valued and appreciated.
The rich history and the life journeys documented in these videos will provide a library of stories and lasting legacies for family and community.

great project
Such an incredibly powerful idea, especially if young Mothers feel isolated at home. The group is brilliantly organised and the guest speakers are always interesting and authentic!!
Such a beautiful idea!
