The Tower of Tarrington project aims to create a safe community hub to celebrate German cultural heritage, encourage social connectivity, and increase liveability in a small but vibrant rural community.

The project will make use of a decommissioned concrete water tower on a high-profile site in the centre of town. The drab concrete structure will be revitalised using a three-dimensional public artwork/sculpture as a focal point.

A new community garden and play area will be established on land at the base, providing a site for people of all ages and all abilities to gather, relax and interact.

The project will help make Tarrington a better place to live by:

- landscaping a structure that's no longer in use
- providing a safe community hub for residents/visitors
- creating a sustainable environment to foster a healthy community
- establishing an all-ages and all-abilities sensory garden and nature-based play area
- reducing social isolation
- connecting nearby towns and communities as a rest point for the bicycle/walking trail from Hamilton
- providing a place for learning about German heritage and cultural history of the town and district
- boosting tourism and raising the profile of a small, rural town

Wow, this would be such a great addition to the festivities Tarrington is known for. Alongside The Hay Bale Art people would be encouraged to wander about our gorgeous village

This is a great idea for a small but historically important and cohesive rural community that many drivers just zoom through, on a busy highway. The tower park would be opposite a preschool/ primary school and be a terrific resource for local families as well as travellers.

It would be good to see this dull structure stand out.

Growing up in Tarrington was an absolute delight with such a fantastic community, and I would often look at this tower and imagine all sorts of ideas - even a rock climbing wall (imaginations of kids, am i right?). This sounds like a wonderful idea and a way to further boost an already great town.

I think the Tower of Tarrington project is essential for Tarrington. There is so much history that needs preserving. It is also needs a community centre to bring people together to build relationships within the community
