Workshop series to teach community members how to produce powerful short stories using smartphones for online sharing. Participants will learn how to find, make, edit and share their stories. Anyone can apply to participate with an estimated 35-40 stories being created in total from the training.

The program also includes building the “Story Collector” online platform for story sharing, with an open invitation for all Melbournians to submit their stories.

This platform will provide a rich resource for communities to engage in meaningful conversation, and for local councils to gain insights and to share and highlight stories from the community.

Benefits include;
-Giving Melbourne’s communities a stronger voice and a way to connect on issues that aren’t always covered by traditional media.
-Fostering community inclusion through shared storytelling and bettering our understanding of our neighbours.
-Providing a supportive and dedicated platform for meaningful stories that give people a stronger voice.
-Encouraging people of all ages and backgrounds to explore ideas, connect with one another, and participate in conversations that affect us all.
-More diverse stories being told and heard about the reality of living in the city.
-Creating a sense of belonging and acceptance through shared values.

It is a very basic human need to share stories so I think this project is an excellent idea.
