The Drysdale Clifton Springs Curlewis Association has been working with CoGG on this project.
The construction of the boardwalk will provide safe walking access around a difficult coastal pinch point at Clifton Springs. The site is the location of the heritage mineral springs area which is experiencing coastal erosion and deterioration through walkers climbing over the site. The boardwalk will also provide opportunities for interpretive signage that will inform visitors of the areas significant cultural heritage.
The provision of a continuous "Foreshore Walk" will encourage people to visit the Clifton Springs beach and engage in activities promoting health and well-being.

The Dell at Clifton Springs has a significant history as a former operational mineral springs site. The Dell provides a natural amphitheater with access to a safe swimming and water based recreational activities. The boardwalk will enable people to further explore the coast around the Dell safely and mitigate against coastal erosion at the site. An underwater sculptural park is in the final planning stages, the proposed boardwalk will also further enhance the underwater sculptural park by providing a potential step off point for people exploring this unique coastal attraction.

Add another boardwalk on the other side of the Dell to connect the boat ramp to the rest of the coast.
Put in some seats and some exercising platforms along the path too. Encourage walkers and joggers to use the area.
Then bring back the hotel and give the locals somewhere nice to have a meal or coffee overlooking the bay!!
A decent pier back again would help. Clifton Springs coast has been left behind when compared to other Bellarine towns.

Really difficult to vote. The boardwalk is a great idea and will be beneficial not just for now but for future generations.

Great idea, it would be nice to see the whole thing extended into a walking track through to Portarlington....

Yes, I agree it is a wonderful idea. Just so long as it does not or will not restrict the “off leash” area for dogs. For many years now this has been a wonderful area for the many (and I do mean many) owners to exercise with their dogs. Please note it is not the dogs doing the damage as they are only interested in the water and running on the beach. The damage is being done by human traffic.

I think sooner the better, maybe the piers can be brought backto life funded by locals, board by board. great for fishing, also pushing the a little a pop up coffe shop a caravan would do.

Good idea!
I think that the springs should be opened up again for tourism too. Surely a hand pump at the Dell like Hepburn Springs wouldnt be too hard to install. It was many years ago (30+!?) when the water was unhealthy due to septic tanks in the area (Golf Course?) that are not there anymore.
Another thing is that the grass should me maintained/watered during summer possibly by the golf course irrigation system that the council paid for? Would be fantastic!

I think the water may still be unhealthy due to the chemical weed killers used by the golf course.

Any foreshore development is a welcome step., and the Dell area has been long overdue.

The mineral springs at this site are the reason why Clifton Springs is called Clifton Springs. This boardwalk will prevent further erosion at site and provide a much needed Foreshore Walk. It is a win-win.
