The Shepparton Theatre Arts Group (STAG) 'Black Box' Theatre Development

The Black Box Development is a plan to renovate the 'Bakehouse', the home of the Shepparton Theatre Arts group, to improve STAG's ability to produce quality theatre in the Goulburn Valley. This project will include developing a 'state of the art' greenroom and backstage space, theatre seating, lining of the rehearsal shed, updating sound, projection and lighting and adding garden landscaping and asphalting to patron parking areas. It also includes the addition of an external reception/function/entertainment space, a large shed to extend the set building and prop storage spaces and a locally commissioned mural on the front of the building.

This project will benefit the local community by increasing the ability of STAG to function in a safe and creative environment with greater potential to produce local theatre. The 'BlackBox' will become a centre point for the creation of new theatre and improve the ability of STAG to work with other theatre and production companies as a 'state of the art' event and function space. This project will therefore increase the viability of STAG to develop into the future so that creative artists can continue to add to the connectedness, cohesion, entertainment and tourism in the local Goulburn Valley community.
