This Work is based on the Indigenous Venezuelan initiation story“Macunaima”. We will create a multi-sensorial arts experience, which captures the essence of natural elements, indigenous spirituality and energies.
The trail consists of visual and sonic atmospheres created via the deconstruction and digital manipulation of audio, photography and videos. The atmospheres represent the strength tests “Macunaima”must overcome in his rite of passages (7 beads).
7 dancers will engage with the audience to become part of the story through a carefully created participative choreography.
Its first incarnation will be presented in the Frankston Arts Centre as part of Ventana 2019.

Local community benefits as:
It is a free and accessible event;
It invites members of the community to participate and learn more about indigenous cultures from across continents. The story draws parallels between first nation’s costumes;
The project stimulates all senses via different means, this makes it especially inclusive to all participants. In this first instance producers and educators will be able to study and learn about different ways participants engage with the artwork. This will help artists to adjust the intensity of the elements in the Art-Trail in further installations.
It will inspire other Victorian artists to experiment ideas.
