This project is aimed at women of all ages and backgrounds. It will involve a quarterly education seminar from a Women’s Health Physiotherapist addressing common concerns around pelvic health in an easy to understand, age appropriate and interactive manner. The seminars will follow the lifespan of women, beginning with adolescent females, through pre & post natal phases and menopause. Common concerns will be addressed for each stage of life, including normal pelvic floor health, good bladder and bowel habits and sexual function. The seminars will be specifically curated to provide age and culturally appropriate information.
Pelvic floor dysfunction affects up to 1 in 3 women and varies in occurrence according to age and time of life (e.g. approximately 20% of young women miss school due to painful periods). The cornerstone of promoting improved pelvic health is education. These seminars will be presented in a captivating and interactive fashion to inform women and provide solutions to these everyday problems. My project aims to further efforts to get the word out amongst our community and provide this information freely, readily and without judgement, to empower women to liberate themselves from the ongoing stigma around pelvic health.
