The Inventors Magical Umbrella Festival in Stonnington

Imagine a festival with thousands of colourful umbrellas celebrating the original invention of the foldable umbrella patented by female visionary Slawa Horowitz-Duldig in Vienna 1929. Taking place on February 9-10 2019 (World Umbrella Day) and celebrating 90 years since Slawa's invention, this event will take place in the Central Park, Stonnington precinct where Slawa lived.
Members of the community are invited to bring their decorated/painted umbrellas and join an umbrella fashion parade with prizes for most creative/inventive umbrellas, with winning entries showcasing innovation.
Also including live performances, art installations, “design your own invention”, children's umbrella painting activities at Duldig Studio.

In an era of box-ticking and copies, we need to nurture creativity, diversity and invention more than ever. This interactive community festival will celebrate the power of imagination, creativity and innovation and encourage participation across generations and cultures. The local shopping area around Central Park will become known as the Umbrella precinct with beautiful and interesting umbrella installations.
The community will share, connect and collaborate through a host of inclusive performances/events markets and art that touches the heart and inspires the soul.
