The Hive is a platform for community, individual and societal growth. Not only does its meaning connote a space filled with humming activity, it is a social hub where people of all ages, cultures and abilities can participate, learn and grow. Located in Braeside Park, it is based around the existing Visitor Centre that will nurture improved community wellbeing and connectedness in the Southern Metro Region. The Centre will host educational programs including Life! (diabetes prevention), after-school programs for primary and high school children, perinatal nutrition programs and social activity programs for the elderly and disabled.

The Hive will create mutual benefits across the whole community and will work to empower and connect the most marginalised. This includes people with a disability, those from culturally and linguistically diverse communities and the elderly. The Hive will provide a space where barriers around isolation, financial hardship, inability to access support services and mental health issues within our communities can be reduced. By creating pathways to become fully engaged participants in the community, each challenge is turned into a strength rather than remaining a weakness. Each individual then becomes a proponent of strength and cohesion.
