"The Good Shed" is a recently refurbished good's shed with rustic charm and immense potential for a great community multipurpose space. Our project involves converting this beautiful empty space into an arts, music and culture venue to be used by the local Yarra Valley community, with activities such as music performances, art exhibitions, workshops and classes, skill shares, children's activities, school holiday programs, markets and festivals.
"The Good Shed" sits in the historic precinct of the charming Healesville Railway Station, surrounded by the Healesville Labyrinth, children's playground and open space, set against a backdrop of peaceful and natural beauty.
Healesville is rich with a diverse artistic community, yet lacks a dedicated community space to showcase or perform. "The Good Shed" will provide a gathering place and affordable venue accessible to all of the local community, including key art based groups such as Yarra Valley Arts, Healesville Music Festival and the Indigenous Art Community within an ideal family friendly precinct.
"The Good Shed" project will be unique in building relationships within community, creating cross generational opportunities for collaboration and bringing support to the significant not for profit heritage organisation Yarra Valley Railway.

Independent and community based artists need an affordable, accessible, user friendly venue to work in and showcase their art in which ever form it takes. As do local community groups for meetings and social activities. Healesville and surrounding areas is growing and a venue like this is needed to grow a cohesive healthy community .
