I developed The GEM Program in 2016 at the request of Menzies Creek Primary School who were keen to explore the values of gratitude, empathy and mindfulness (GEM) with its whole school community. I have been running the program for almost 2 years. Each week students and staff participate in fun, informative and interactive GEM lessons. I am eager to run other classes and workshops throughout my whole community and to spread the GEM message. The GEM Program's core aim is to help people discover these practices, and how to use them to raise happiness levels.
There is an old saying 'It takes a village to raise a child'. I believe it now takes a whole village to raise up the village. Amar Dave once said "Too many people are thinking the grass is greener on the other side of the fence, when they ought to just water the grass they are standing on.” The GEM program is the watering that can help people explore how they can help themselves become happier and more positive and by changing their mindset can then go into their communities and model the values of Gratitude, Empathy and Mindfulness.

What a privilege it is to have Sarah working in our community. We have so much to be grateful for as she spreads the GEM message! Practicing these attributes make our lives enriched and bright! How lucky we are! Go Sarah - you are the GEM is our beautiful community.
GEM has been a blessing the school community. Sarah goes above an beyond to make everybody around her feel uplifted, grateful, empathetic and mindful. She teaches children and adults alike about the importance of these qualities and how they can impact our lives for the better. This program has a ripple affect on those who come to know our beautiful children as they glow with self awareness and compassion. Don't ever change Sarah, we love you.
We are all very grateful to Sarah at Menzies. The students love her lessons and it is wonderful to see them developing gratitude, empathy for others and an awareness of the importance of using mindfulness strategies when life becomes a bit tricky. This all really helps in growing more resilient individuals. You are doing brilliant work Sarah!
An amazing program run by such a dedicated lady. I love seeing our kids developing the key life skills that will help them to become wonderful teenagers and adults, parents and community members. There is truly so much to be grateful for GEM!
The GEM Project is such a vital aspect of our community at Menzies! We have all (students, teachers and parents) become closer as we learn together how to be more grateful, empathetic and mindful. Sarah prompts our thinking in a creative, engaging and supportive way. I couldn't be more grateful for this program!
Love GEM!!
Gratitude Empathy and Mindfulness.. certainly three things the world needs more of ! Sarah is a wonderfully kind , nurturing and positive person . The children love her and she plays a huge role in the Menzies creek community supporting children and families as well as running this fabulous GEM program!
I love this idea! I feel, as humans living in a digital age, the social media phenomenon in particular is beginning to take its toll by leaving us feeling disconnected with one another. Sarah is showing the way with her GEM program and gaining great results with Her students at Menzies creek primary school. Both kids and teachers alike enjoy her classes about how to treat each other with respect, through fun games about gratitude empathy and mindfulness...wouldn’t it be wonderful if the whole community of emerald could be reminded how to reconnect with each other through Sarah’s simple program?
So very grateful for your support
Gratitude, Empathy and Mindfulness are often overlooked in our busy lives. If all of our decisions and actions used the skills that Sarah teaches, we remember what really matters to be a human being.
This program will teach your kids simple tricks to become a happy, insightful, grateful person. You can only wish everyone went through that program, and this world would be paradise!
