The Founding and Early History of Williamstown: A Documentary

We endeavour to research, write and produce a definitive documentary film tracing the foundation and early history of Williamstown, one of the cradles of our modern-day city of Melbourne.

Once completed, it will be made freely available to Hobson's Bay library patrons, Williamstown Historical Society visitors/members and online audiences through video hosting platforms. We also envisage a cinema première, in which residents of Hobsons Bay/Williamstown will be VIP attendants.

Key activities will include research, writing, filming, editing and distribution.

The foundation and early years of Williamstown is a topic that is yet to be examined in detail in a documentary film format, and our production will address that.

This film - in addition to fostering knowledge of the early years of Williamstown amongst the people of Melbourne and the wider world - will also promote Williamstown as a historic tourism destination, bringing a significant advantage to the local economy and culture.
