We could keep the graffiti wall or .... we could use the wall as a canvas to create an amazing public art mural that celebrates the local Mount Pleasant history! The corner of Barkly and Cobden Streets in Mount Pleasant was historically the place to connect for local residents when it was the shopping hub and the end of the tram line. And it could be again! The Butcher's Shop with a new art work, will bring fun, colour and life back to this area. PICK MY PROJECT and the Butcher's Shop will be the local place to connect!
Like many other communities, we have some areas that tend to be graffiti hot spots. The wall of the old butcher's shop is one of these areas and is also on the most prominent corner in Mount Pleasant. Many school and kindergarten families, drivers and bus passengers go past it daily. A mural on the old local butcher's shop will not only acknowledge and celebrate our area's past, but it will provide a great opportunity for the community to create a space together that they are really proud of. PICK MY PROJECT to bring public art to Mount Pleasant!

This was my Grandfathers Butcher shop sad to see the graffiti, so disrespectful, will be lovely to see a nice mural
Hopefully you can share some information about your grandfather's time in the shop to help shape the final design!
I love this idea :-)
Great project for My Pleasant central location.
A very important addition to an historic suburb. Mt Pleasant was the first suburb of Ballarat and also the first residential suburb. It was settled in 1853 and the mural will add to the telling of the history of this suburb.
It will be a wonderful mix of community, history, colour and story telling!
I love the idea of beautifying the streetscape with historically significant artwork. Well done on this project. You have my vote!
