The Butcher's Shop - Celebrating art, history and our community

We could keep the graffiti wall or .... we could use the wall as a canvas to create an amazing public art mural that celebrates the local Mount Pleasant history! The corner of Barkly and Cobden Streets in Mount Pleasant was historically the place to connect for local residents when it was the shopping hub and the end of the tram line. And it could be again! The Butcher's Shop with a new art work, will bring fun, colour and life back to this area. PICK MY PROJECT and the Butcher's Shop will be the local place to connect!

Like many other communities, we have some areas that tend to be graffiti hot spots. The wall of the old butcher's shop is one of these areas and is also on the most prominent corner in Mount Pleasant. Many school and kindergarten families, drivers and bus passengers go past it daily. A mural on the old local butcher's shop will not only acknowledge and celebrate our area's past, but it will provide a great opportunity for the community to create a space together that they are really proud of.
