The Bike Exchange will repair/restore bikes that are currently being dumped at the Wyndham
Waste & Recycling Transfer Station. The bikes, once restored, will be made available to local
schools, disability/community/service groups to provide to people in need in the
community. If any bikes remain they will be provided to local schools for fundraising
purposes. Local residents will be encouraged to volunteer at the Bike Exchange where they
will receive training in bike mechanics and restoration in a socially inclusive environment
The project will benefit the local community by repairing and restoring bikes that would have
ended up as landfill. By recycling the bikes the communty will be encouraged to think about
reusing rather than discarding. By returning the bikes to the community a free healthy and
environmentaly friendly mode of transport will be made available to people who may not have
previously considered bike riding as an option. The skills provided to the local community
members involved in the bike mechanic and restoration works will be valuable in a work situation
or home environment and increase social participation.

If we’ve got old bikes - how can we get in contact to drop off?
