We will create a sheltered, landscaped space providing our community and tourists with access to a pizza oven, BBQ, drinking water, tables, seating, firepit and disabled toilet.
This new community space would:
* be used with pride by our many community groups, families and tourists for social gatherings;
* provide a safe place for children and families attending our community award-winning monthly BBQ;
* create a focus for our scattered community;
* enhance existing facilities including tennis courts, playground and hall;
* kickstart further development of the recreation reserve
* allow weddings, parties, foodswaps and farmers' markets.
The project addresses our needs by overcoming:
• the lack of facilities in our small community;
• the absence of all-weather shelter which limits use of the hall, playground, tennis courts and the reserve itself;
• our neglected status by creating a rest-stop making Talgarno the western gateway to the Great Murray River Road;
• potential issues of social isolation, mental health and community resilience by creating more opportunities for gathering, sharing and caring;
• loss of community pride by creating a focus that will draw our community closer together while showcasing Talgarno to tourists.

As a resident of Talgarno, I am very excited to see our center developed. We as a community can do great things when we come together. Unfortunately we lack some of the basics that other towns take for granted such as picnic tables and toilets. I would also like to see the road access improved from Murray River Road.

As an occasional visitor to Talgarno from Yackandandah I am only too aware of the need for a centre in Talgarno as a place where everyone can meet, to help develop a sense of community. Any community’s health depends on it.
