Tales from Rat City Audio Tours

This project will develop a phone app, to be hosted by the city of Ballarat which will allow people in Ballarat central to access audio tours, performed by professional actors, details events, stories and the local history of goldfields Ballarat. This tour will showcase Ballarat's unique subaltern history integrating the experiences of the men, women, the Wadda Wurrung aborigines, the Chinese community and others telling their stories in their own words from period sources and original documentation. Our experience in constructing audio documentaries and VR tours for Tales from Rat City and Ballarat's Beritage Weekend means we have established infrastructure.

We will draw attention to lesser known stories of the goldfields and entrench these stories in Ballarat's heritage and tourist industry. We will enhance the experience of visitors and tourists to Ballarat and bring Ballarat's past to life through online audio story telling. We will help bring people to Ballarat's central business district and support local business and community organizations. We will also help to build stronger links between Ballarat's diverse communities and draw attention to their shared heritage. Having a stronger online profile will help to draw international interest to Ballarat as a rich heritage tourism destination.
