STEAM is a project aimed to engage South Sudanese teens in advancing their entrepreneur skills through social enterprise. The project will purchase a steam van which will be used with the help of experts to train young people how to steam clean commercial and domestic properties.
Young people typically lack work experience which makes it hard for them to find employment. The Steam Van will offer an opportunity for South Sudanese young people to learn on the job while making their own income. The experience gained in this setting is likely to increase employability and self-discipline in other fields.
STEAM will offer on-the-job training to South Sudanese teens who struggle to find employment. Skills gained through this training may lead to young person/s:
- becoming self-employed
- gaining employment in other areas
- staying engaged and at lower risk of anti-social behaviours and activities
- learning discipline, independent and become responsible members of society
- developing positive attributes to team work
- developing key work skills like as customer service, time-management and prioritising
- developing good financial management skills
Parents would gain peace of mind knowing their children are learning self-sufficiency and contributing to better society.
