The intention of the project is to utilise the iconic Sunshine Silos by using the landmark as the centrepiece for a program of projection art and outdoor cinema screenings . The proposal is that the project will be managed by a group of local residents and community groups with assistance and guidance from Brimbank City Council. The site is currently owned by Graincorp who have given in principle landowner consent to the proposal.
The Sunshine community is proud of Sunshine's rich and important industrial history. Rapid development has led to many of our old buildings and monuments being lost and reminders of our rich past gone forever. The community will benefit from the utilisation and celebration of a much loved landmark. Other community benefits would be the enhancement of Parsons reserve as a meeting place which could pave the way for other commercial opportunities such as food trucks or outdoor cinema screenings. The landmark is already prominent in tv advertising which could be further enhanced by this project.
