Since back in the early 80's when I first visited the park there has been no viable shade structure to protect the community from the Sun, surprisingly even the children's playground area has never had any shade structure to protect our children. The project will include sun smart shade structures to protect the three children’s play equipment areas and also provide shade to communal areas including the recently landscaped community area opposite the office that is frequently used by the community as a gathering place.

Our community is lucky to have saved the park from closure. By providing shade and becoming a Sun Smart Park the project would attract additional users. Being a Water Sports Club having adequate shade would attract community usage, being safer and more enjoyable to use, also our children could play safely from the sun and community can gather and further enjoy the outdoors safely. Our park is a great asset for the smaller surrounding communities, the more people we can attract to the park the more the smaller surrounding communities economies benefit through tourism.

I have visited the park on a number of occasions and while the Committee of management are doing a great job in keeping the park running and open to the public they desperately need shade throughout the park and the funding to do it.

Sun will burn you if you stand around in it... get in some shade.

The only shade we currently have at the park is from the trees which is not safe. In this day and age we need to protect people from the harmful rays of the sun and therefore having shade structures erected over highly used areas of the park, such as the children's playground/basketball court and the kiosk area would be in line with the Sun Smart campaign. Please help us to protect the masses of people that use the park from the harmful sun.

Taking shade from gum trees is generally not considered safe. The most utilised areas at this location are not shaded efficiently. Shade sails will enhanse the site and add far greater safety for those those who visit and ocupy this very popular location.
