We will transform the Bendigo Sustainability Group office into a community sustainable living demonstration centre comprising 10kW solar, battery storage, energy management, upgraded insulation, LED lighting, double-glazed windows, electric hot water systems, sustainable gardening and more.
The centre will be a lasting legacy, showcasing how to build/upgrade homes and businesses to be energy efficient, cheap to run and approaching a net-zero carbon footprint.
We will install 80+kW of solar PV across the Bendigo Tennis Complex and Bendigo Golf Club - significantly reducing their power usage and greenhouse emissions.
Onsite and online displays will show energy generation, storage and site use.
The sustainable living demonstration centre will be a place where experts demonstrate and demystify energy efficiency and renewable energy technology, enabling people to reduce the operating cost and environmental impact of their business / home.
Total financial savings for organisations will be about $20,000/year, making the organisations more financially sustainable. Income to the BSG will support the development of more community owned renewable energy across Bendigo and Central Victoria.
Solar PV and other information will contribute to the understanding of renewable energy generation and storage and how it can be owned and operated to create value in the local community.

More money saved on renewable energy means more money can be put back into the community.
As we all know the power bills are still growing, by way of sustainable renewable energy sources take pressure of the funding bodies and members of clubs to manage running costs and also helps the environment in the long term and helps reduce our C02 emissions. So anyway to help the environment and the cost of running our sporting centres and other community fasilities will help the communities in our ares for years to come.
More renewable power is a bonus to the community
A Great Contribution to renewable energy generation and storage for Bendigo whilst helping 2 local sporting communities
Sounds like a great idea making for less emissions and more viable sporting facilities
Great project, especially with two sporting groups involved.
Clean energy has to be good.
It will dramatically reduce electricity consumption as most air conditioning and refrigeration is required during daylight hours.
This project would have two benfits - the lowering of carbon emissions and assistance to sports clubs.
Any thing that reduces costs fo community assets is a good thing
Great to see three organisations working together to provide a combined benefit to a broad range of locals.
Can make a positive contribution, not only to Bendigo but the broader region. I reckon Iron Bark Gully along a shared path and not far from the Dja Dja Wurrung cultural centre could be a great place to locate it.

Truly Sustainability in Action.
People need to see things working to gain a better understanding of how it works. A living breathing "working"community centre is just the thing to show how sustainability works. Go Bendigo Sustainability Group.
What is not to like. Encouraging energy efficient design and increasing renewable energy, which reduces economic costs, and impact on our environment. Partnered by Bendigo Sustainability Group (BSG) which uses its resources to support local community groups. Got my vote
Wow looks like a wonderful project. It acts to lower electricity costs for the sites as well as educate the community about renewable energy and other energy efficiency measures. I will gladly support and vote for it.
