Experiential learning is a powerful tool; we'll present a '45-minute HealthPlay' fact-checked by Headspace and Mental Health Victoria.
We'll also present a 30-minute Q&A using evidence base of Positive Psychology and neuroscience: this learning session will enhance mental wellbeing and resilience. We'll provide a 'need-to-know' 36-page resource with information sourced from credible experts and first-person interviews (a mix of theory and personal) – from Parenting Guides Ltd, the partner organisation and organising body.

Youth suicide is a difficult subject confronting all communities. We'll collaborate with 'best practice' and 'like-minded' people and foundations to pool resources and eliminate duplication. Targeting parents, carers, educators and health professionals working with teenagers: we especially want parents to take 'ownership through education'. It will be delivered in a safe environment (i.e. community libraries/theatres/schools) for up to 120 people at a time. Understanding the impact of mental health on families is not to be underestimated; we'll be delivering an art form that has 'light and shade', backed up with a hard copy 36-page educational resource.

This project concerns me, not because it is about suicide, but because of the apparent lack of any real knowledge by the author of the blurb.
As the parent of a child who died by suicide, I find this insulting, totally ignorant and extremely distressing. I trust it does NOT get funded.
No-one who truly knows anything about suicide would use a line like " Targeting parents, carers, educators and health professionals working with teenagers: we especially want parents to take 'ownership through education'. Just how do you really think parents can "take ownership"? In case you don't know, and I'm guessing that you don't have any real experience with a child who has issues, once that child turns 16 and is seeking "professional" help, YOU as the parent have NO legal right to be told anything! So do tell, just how can you hold parents responsible for their child's death by suicide? You are adding to the stigma of suicide by playing the blame game. This is NOT positive, it's disgusting. I strongly suggest you contact an organisation with current knowledge and experience in dealing with suicidality.
While you have used all the politically correct words - "best practice", "like minded people", "safe environment" just how do you really think you can reduce "duplication"?
Do you understand what "best practice" actually is? "like minded people" can be a dangerous term, well meaning people, who have limited or no knowledge of a topic and bring their own simplistic and biased beliefs into the arena. And a "safe environment", just because the event is to be run in a community venue, does NOT make it a safe environment. What are you going to do for attendees who are caused distress by this?
Yes, this is a very difficult topic, but it is made even more difficult by people who think they have a solution, but do not understand the topic. Ignorance is dangerous. I fail to see how this even got shortlisted.

An important initiative that deserves to be funded.

This is an important topic that affects us all in a community.
I hope you get the funding you require to help make a difference, one young life saved is invaluable.
Lessons learned locally can have global consequences, lets hope as a wider community we can share our knowledge and make a greater difference. Best of luck.

Marie what a wonderful collaboration of three organisations that have the same values. We don't do this to feel good about ourselves, we want to make a difference! Well done for getting on board.
