Australia's first culturally diverse and inclusive innovation, creative and well-being community hub. The multi-functional space will be accessed by the general public in the Wyndham community. It is a co-working space, incubator, arts, culture, health and fitness space. It will be community run and driven and host not for profit service providers to run programs, services, workshops and events in the creative, health and fitness areas to strengthen enhance and build our local community. The hub will increase community health, fitness, social cohesion and well-being, enable growth of start-ups and jobs, and increase social connection/well-being for remote-based working individuals.

Wyndham has no co-working space, the closest being Footscray or Geelong. Also ALL community centres are fully booked for the year unable to keep up with high community demand for multi-functional community spaces for events, program delivery and hire. The space will be able to meet this demand. It will also enable remote-based working individuals and startups to work and live local thereby decreasing local traffic and public transport congestion. It will run services, programs, events and workshops in arts, culture, health and fitness to strengthen social cohesion health and well-being and strengthen the local economy through jobs and innovation.

Our organisation is a Not For Profit Organisation with DGR status.

We have come up with this idea to serve the Wyndham community. The money will go towards construction and properly and professionally resourcing a small warehouse facility to cope with high community demand for spaces, venues, community services and programs and startups (coworking, incubator, accelerator). Focus will be on cultural diversity and inclusion of all abilities in the arts, culture, fitness, health, wellbeing and innovation/startup areaas.

We know that there is a minimum of 40 culturally diverse and inclusive community groups in Wyndham looking for and desperately needing a space/home to run their programs and services out of to serve the community. It would be so fabulous to have a hub that would be able to service this need including that of startups and more. We also see a space that will run health fitness and wellbeing programs for those doing it tough financially and services to serve single parent families in need and people with disabilities. We are so glad! Thanks for the support! Means so much to us. This space will not only be used by us but many other not for profit community service providers that share the same values as us as well as a coworking space to remove isolation for those working from home and stimulate growth in startups so we can create more local jobs. There certainly is a shortage of venues in the wyndham area. It would be great for the community to have more space so that smaller groups providing services to the community can thrive.

Thanks so much Sarah! We hope you voted? :-D There is definitely a HUGE shortage. Wyndham has so many community centers but most have very little availability for hire. With this project we want to create a space that is community driven and not council driven. Something that reflects the cultural diversity in our area and is inclusive of all abilities. A space to provide health, fitness, wellbeing and creativity classes and programs to those that are financially struggling and single parent famalies. And a space for startups to encourage job creation through business ventures. We envision a buzzing culturally diverse and inclusive space that will be able to be used by the community for different things. Thanks so much for commenting we truly appreciate it! <3

Thanks for the comment. We really appreciate it. Our project manager for this project is an innovation specialist with strong networks, contacts, experience, and skills in the startup space, coworking, and in running accelerators and incubators. Like all good projects we would approach this with a sense of agility, lean startup and co-design. Startups during the day, community programs, and services in the evening and weekends. In the design of the space, we have mentioned above that we will build two levels to reflect this seperation. That said taking part in creativity and wellbeing activities lends itself to innovation. To ensure it is able to meet demand needs and serve as a place of startups we require funding to construct the space and resource it properly. One of the first pieces of work the project manager will do is in scoping. Hence our application in Pick My Project to make this happen. Do you have any ideas on how we can ensure that this space will meet demand needs and serve as a place for startups? We would love to hear them!
