'Step in' and Swim at Maldon Pool

Maldon Pool is used for exercise sessions and recreational play but currently has only ladders for access into the water.
Many members of our community with limited mobility cannot climb these ladders.
Lap-swimming and aqua-aerobics are held to encourage all community members to participate in physical exercise and social interactions.
Community members with limited mobility cannot participate in these sessions or recreation because they cannot manage the ladders.
Installing steps with handrail into the pool will provide access for these less mobile community members.
They will also be able to enjoy the water and benefit from the exercise program.

Maldon Swimming Pool conducts three lap-swimming and two aqua-aerobics sessions weekly, providing increased health and well-being to many community members.
Maldon’s community has a median age of 54, 20% having mobility issues due to increased incidences of injuries, disease and disability.
Residents with limited mobility cannot benefit from this exercise program or enjoy recreational water play with their families and friends because they cannot climb the ladders.
Installation of steps will also help parents with young children.
Providing easier access into the pool will create a more inclusive facility for all to enjoy, gaining increased physical health and social well-being.
