Great idea. It would be a joy to see the laneway reinvigorated with a community project, adding another layer of interest to St Kilda.

The project sets out to beautify a decaying laneway by commissioning artwork to visually represent the diverse and rich musical history of the local area. The laneway is freely accessible to the public and is well used as a short cut to traverse the surrounding streets. The mural would bring together local artists to deliver the musically themed artwork and a street party would launch the revitalized space. Once installed the artwork would not only improve perceptions of safety in the space but it would also act as a destination and form part of the much loved St Kilda art-scape.
The Rowland S Howard laneway is a well used St Kilda thoroughfare with a checkered past. As local residents we want to make the space more inviting and reflect our pride in the artistic creativity of the area. Recently the laneway has suffered from harboring anti-social behaviours such as: drug use and graffiti. The project sets out to reclaim and beautify the space.
St Kilda has long been associated with a vibrant live music scene - this project would enrich the area by representing this - as well as employing local artists in the delivery of the mural.

great idea.
I have just voted after getting your flyer in the mail.
It will prove more important in the near future with the pride centre being developed.
Great idea to transform this important pedestrian connection
A great idea to rehabilitate this laneway frequently use by locals. Next step- drug dealers in the Jackson Street car park and drug users in the laneway.
Will be fantastic and create a new laneway art precinct for tourists to come and visit.. 😊
Fully support this laneway I use every day :)

Great idea. The lane could do with some love. Art and St Kilda go together. A bonus is that targgers generally don't tag quality graffiti
