St John Ambulance Museum - Preserving our history

The St John Museum plays a critical role in conserving, sharing and developing Victoria’s identity and sense of place. We are seeking funding to support the refurbishment of the museum which illustrates 135 years of first aid training and service to the people of Victoria. The Museum showcases the history of St John volunteers and their incredible, unfailing service to visitors and residents of Victoria.

The funding will be used to renovate the museum to make the displays more interactive and informative; while preserving historical items. It will attract visitors to the area from across the country.

The Museum represents an enormous investment of community time and effort and the collection contains material of local, state and national significance.

It connects people to important stories and traditions, and enables visitors to experience a little of the lives of others. Community museums help tell us about our identity: where we come from, and what we aspire to in the future.

It will create a space for volunteering, work experience and life-long learning. These activities foster enjoyable social experiences, generate skill-sets and provide a meaningful activity in community life.
