'Spitfire' The man who came from nothing to become something!

This film will be made in collaboration with 'Youthworx', a youth media social enterprise that employs and trains young people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, in creative and commercial media production. 'Youthworx' will produce this film to broadcast quality allowing its entry into local and international film festivals. The film showcases the life of Harold Murray Rittman who made the last flight over Europe when WW2 ended. His job was to fly over prison camps to make sure prisoners were not being taken out and being shot. This is a film about courage.

The theme of this film is inspiring. Harold Murray Rittman, born in Casterton, a small town on the border of Victoria and South Australia, left school with no formal education at the age of 12. During WW2, my father flew 90 missions over enemy territory under heavy fire. His job was to take photographs 'before and after' bombings of strategic German sites.

The community benefit of this project is the context - circumstances have no real bearing on what a human being can create with his/her life. Filmmakers have the power to transform the public's view of what's possible.
