Spirit of the Great Lake is a Folk Opera presented by Sri Lankan Dance Academy of Victoria. It is their forth production based on a 2000 year old story when people had a very close connections to the land and other natural resource such as water, fire and environment. It has very close similarities to the culture of the indigenous people of Australia. Our intention is to share these cultural traditions with the Victorian public through dance and music. We also intend to offer 200 free allocations to the senior citizens of Victoria and people with low socioeconomic backgrounds.
Main objectives of the project is to enlighten and entertain Melbourne with unique productions, which ultimately provide insight into Sri Lanka’s diverse, rich and unique cultural heritage. We wish to share our culture with the Victorian community. This creates an environment of better appreciation and understanding, thus enhancing bonds between our multicultural communities. Sri Lankan Dance Academy is the only community run dance academy in State of Victoria. Our intention is to give the Victorian public easy access to a quality multicultural event at an affordable price. We also intend to give free 200 tickets to Senior citizens of Victoria.

Best Sri Lankan production I ever seen in Australian soil. It's best of the best because it shows about the Sri Lanakan Culture and history. The story line is remarkable and it is easy to understand. When you watch it you don't feel like even blinking your eyes. You have to see this show yourself, there are no words to describe how remarkable and beautiful it is.
