SPICE: Intergenerational Playgroup Macedon Rangers

SPICE: Songs & Play for Intergenerational Community Engagement.
SPICE is a monthly play space for young children and families to connect with the elderly of the community to grow, engage, play, form relationships and have a great time. Currently held in an aged care facility, SPICE playgroup is an inclusive play space, everyone from the community is invited. Macedon Rangers SPICE aims to extend into other settings, towns and run more frequently.
During SPICE there is a mix of activities designed to connect generations, including; music, live entertainment, storytelling, craft, free play and a general atmosphere of togetherness and joy.

Loneliness is a major concern for our communities in the current age. At most risk are the elderly and young parents. The purpose of SPICE is to bring these two groups together in an engaging and fun way. SPICE allows the elderly to feel invigorated and valued in the community. Children learn respect, values and how to engage with people of all ages and abilities. SPICE enables parents/guardians to form connections with other families and the elderly, learning from one another and growing. Ultimately SPICE creates community connections and brings happiness to whoever attends.
