The project will be undertaken to seal the competitor pit roads and some parts of the facilities entry road. Currently the area is grass and gravel, and possesses a significant high safety risk to racetrack competitors & spectators. Sealing of the pit roads would provide a much safer surface for everyone entering and travelling around during events
Our raceway currently holds the largest national regional drag racing event in Australia. The South Coast Raceway is the largest and most significant facility of its kind in South West Victoria. Last season the track brought in over 4100 competitors, spectators and crew members from all over Australia, more than 38% of these from outside Victoria. Our raceway provides a major boost to the local Portland economy. Upgrading these facilities further will allow us to attract even more interstate competitors and spectators.
