Funds will be used to build a website that contains: - A live map of health services that have either installed solar or are in the process of doing so. - Information for health providers about how they can access solar and its financial, environmental and health benefits. - A sign up process for healthcare workers interested in championing solar within their workplaces. And for healthcare workers who have expressed interest in championing solar within their workplaces, offer and deliver training in how to advocate for installation of solar, and then (where required) how to build a local team.

Many healthcare workers are concerned about climate change but lack pathways to create systemic change. Many health services are installing solar panels, but there is no work being done to track and accelerate this phenomenon. Solar installation is symbolically powerful in demonstrating support for action on climate change. Publicising the uptake of solar by health services will build a public narrative that health professionals support a transition from fossil fuels to renewables. Health professionals are trusted to act judiciously in the public interest. By linking health to climate in the public consciousness, this project will increase support for energy transition.

This project provides a much needed structured approach to increasing the use of clean renewable solar energy to displace the use of dirty fossil fuel energy. This reduces carbon dioxide emissions and mitigates the global warming problem.

Solar power for healthcare services is an obvious win because:
-public buildings are a great opportunity to increase micro-generation and reduce fossil fuel dependence and reliance on the exisiting electricity grid;
-health services are essential services so alternative power generation is sensible anyway to ensure continuous functioning;
-local champions will help SMEs to work through the complexities of approval, funding and installation.
