Bringing together local retailers, consumers and school groups in a closed loop solution to 'soft plastics'.

As a small town with no access to soft plastics recycling but a strong heart and desire to make a difference, we have come up with a local solution to close the loop on soft plastics, reduce their use and divert them from landfill.

We will collect soft plastics at schools, invite cash donations, a local retailer will bale the plastics and transport for recycling and the money collected will be used to purchase school furniture made from recycled plastics.

Empowering our community to take direct action on resource recycling and linking together different elements of the community; consumers, schools, retailers will develop a sense of common purpose and communities doing it for themselves. In an era where resource use has become a pressing issue, the more hands on we become, the more we can innovate to reduce our impact on the environment. Joining together to come up with solutions is a key element of living in a small community with a small resource base.
Three schools will be involved in this project and it will be open to all.
