Distinctive Options can provide a fully functional coffee shop that provides social enterprise employment for people with a disability in our community. Within this coffee shop program, people with a disability would be provided with skills training and education on finding a job. The coffee shop would help break the stigma and the barriers that many people face when trying to get and maintain a job. The NDIS will pay staff to provide the direct support, but funding is needed for the required renovations and the purchase of basic catering equipment.
People will have an option for inclusive supported employment in Sunbury where they can gain hospitality experience and skills, opening pathways for them to move into other employment opportunities. The Global Learning Centre in Sunbury will not have an onsite café and catering. With the coffee shop to open 3 minutes away, both residents and people with a disability will experience the benefits. All residents who visit the coffee shop will be able to show their support for people with a disability. You will experience how a business can be accessible and inclusive and how important employment really is.
