The Ocean Grove Snooker Club (OGSC) has a long and proud history, having been in operation for over 42 years, but it does not have a ‘home base’, playing a weekly snooker competition on tables located in private homes.
This project will purchase snooker tables, lighting, associated equipment and TV honour boards to establish the Club as a co-tenant of the Memorial Oval Reserve Pavilion (75-77 Draper Street, Ocean Grove).
The Club will open up the doors to the wider community to attract interest in the sport and seek to grow the membership of the Club.
The Ocean Grove population is 14,990 and forecast to grow to 17,545 by 2036 (+17%), including a 31% increase in retirement age, and a 16% increase in working age. This project strongly supports social inclusion, skill development and increased participation opportunities among older and working age adults. The project will also activate a facility that is not currently being used.
The OGSC will advertise times that the facility will be open for the wider community to come and try snooker, pool or billiards, and run social competitions inviting everyone in the community to participate.

The Ocean Grove Snooker Club celebrated its 40th year of competition in 2016. We have players of all ages in a social based community competition.

Would be a good venue to help promote the sport in Ocean Grove as I have played since I was 16 , in Ballarat & Ocean Grove .+ at home.
