Showground Arena surface and irrigation upgrade

The Nhill Showground upgrade will include an arena resurfaced with new turf irrigated by a groundwater bore servicing the fully installed irrigation system. The community will have access to safer infrastructure for equestrian activities and provide an area where social interactions and recreational activities can take place, in turn benefiting the local community's mental health. Our annual show will be able to encourage more participants in events taking place on the arena, confident that the risk of injury to riders or horses has been reduced.

Improving the surface quality on the showground arena, will encourage new equestrian events to be held in Nhill: being located 4 hours from Melbourne, Adelaide, Murray Rive and South West Coast, a refurbished site in Nhill will open new opportunities for the equestrian calendar in addition to upgrading an already well utilised community asset. As participants travel to Nhill for events, they will improve employment opportunities and bolster the local economy purchasing food, fuel and retail therapy also utilising local accommodation providers.
