The Petanque Piste is used by our club and by other Victorian clubs during inter-club competitions. There is very little protection from the sun as the piste is aligned on an East-West axis. It is our intent to construct a Shelter Shed in conjunction with Rotary International (Dromana) to provide shelter for players, referees and guests.
As the players can be on the piste for up to 4 hours during a competition, we will also install 8 umbrellas at the end of the playing lanes.
The broader community of Main Ridge are active participants in the activities of our club. We have close social and working relationships with the Main Ridge Tennis and Cricket clubs; the CFA; the Red Hill Lions Club; the Men's Shed and the residents. Main Ridge is a small community and our club is the only licensed premises in the district, so we act as a social centre as well as a sporting club. All residents are encouraged to participate in our activities and we have a very supportive and involved community who will benefit from the sun-shade.
